What are some of the ways I can donate to Diamond Children's Medical Center?
There are many ways you can make a contribution.
You can make a cash donation now using our secure online system or by mail or fax. Substantial cash gifts can be payable in installments pending approval of the UMC Foundation.
You may also be able to make a gift of securities, personal property including real estate or a whole life insurance policy. Donations may also be made via a trust and as a bequest.
Please call the UMC Foundation at (520) 694-6088 to learn more.
Is my donation tax-deducible?
Yes. UMC is designated a 501 (c) (3) "not for profit" hospital serving the entire state of Arizona and the Southwest. This means that private gifts in support of UMC's bricks-and-mortar projects and patient-related programs are tax-deductible.
Why is it so important to donate for bricks and mortar?
To provide the extensive pediatric services so desperately needed in our community we have to expand our facility. We have the money to begin work on the new building, but we need the support of everyone who realizes the need for an advanced medical center for children to complete the dream.
Can donations be made in honor or memory of someone?
Yes. We welcome gifts that recognize the important people in your life. Call (520) 694-6088 to learn more.
May I designate my donation to a specific area?

How will Diamond Children's Medical Center be different?
Diamond Children's Medical Center will be Arizona's only children's inpatient medical center connected to a college of medicine and research center. Children will receive care from leading UA physicians who have access to the latest research and treatment options; many will be available in Southern Arizona only at Diamond Children's Medical Center.
Diamond Children's Medical Center is designed to be a bright, healing environment for kids and their families. There are private rooms for pediatric patients, sleeping quarters for parents, multiple play rooms, educational support, family spaces, a stage for children's entertainment and celebrations, and of course toys. We'll provide everything we can to make children and families feel safe and at home.

What new services will be available at Diamond Children's Medical Center?
Just a few of the planned additions include a dedicated children's emergency department, a new pediatric cancer and bone marrow unit, extended-stay intensive care for long-term patients, and a children's classroom for long-term patients to continue their education. Future plans call for a children's operating room including pre-op and post-op area just for children.

My child has cancer. Will more clinical trials be available at Diamond Children's Medical Center?
Partnering with Steele Children's Research Center at The University of Arizona Department of Pediatrics , our patients will be eligible to be treated with the most current protocols offering them the most promising and newest cancer therapies. We also have an active clinical research program allowing us to enter eligible patients on newer investigational drugs as part of clinical trials.
Will it cost more for my child to receive care at Diamond Children's Medical Center?
Cost of care will be based on rates set by University Medical Center every year. Like other medical providers in Southern Arizona, UMC bases the cost of care on the services provided and contracted rates with insurance plans. For those without insurance, we have a discount program and an uninsured patients financial counselor to assist with payment plans.
What kind of volunteer opportunities are available?
There will be many volunteer opportunities for anyone in the community who is interested in helping our kids. Some of those include:
- Play room attendant
- Teachers' aide to help students with homework
- Art and music therapy volunteer
- Cuddler for Newborn Intensive Care Unit and for infants and toddlers
- Ronald McDonald Family Day Room volunteer
- Special events
- Family host volunteer to welcome children and families as they are admitted
